Visitors can find many ways of getting to the U.S. and British Virgin Islands

Ticket to Paradise

The Virgin Islands are an incredible vacation just waiting to happen. But before you can enjoy everything these islands have to offer, you have to get there. Several travel options are available whether you're traveling to the British or U.S. Virgin Islands, including plane, cruise, or yacht.

Air travel is always a popular option because it is usually fast and convenient. However, travelers heading to these British isles should plan on taking a little extra time to arrive. There are no direct flights from the U.S. to the British Virgin Islands. In fact, most travelers fly via the U.S. Virgin Islands to the British. The U.S. territories have plenty of direct flights.

Cruises stop with equal frequency at both sets of islands, and Tortola, Charlotte Amalie, and Christiansted are all popular cruise ports. Since each spot offers something a little different, some cruises visit multiple destinations.

Yachting is also extremely popular in the Virgin Islands. There are plenty of yachts available for rental in this region. Or, you can rent one outside of the Virgin Islands and arrive by sea on your own schedule. Sailors should be aware of all the rules and regulations associated with entering the islands.

While the sailing in the Virgin Islands may be second to none, there are other ways to reach these islands that may entice visitors to sit back and enjoy the ride.
