All ferries offer reduced rates for children 3 to 11, and some offer discounts for senior citizens. Ferries are not the only way to get around in the warm Caribbean waters. Charter boats are plentiful throughout the Virgin Islands. Boat racing is also quickly becoming a favorite pastime, bringing world-class boaters and their vessels to the area. In both the British and U.S. Virgin Islands, options abound; vacationers are able to choose between power boats or sailboats, unmanned or with a full crew. Bareboat crafts allow travelers to explore independently the waters surrounding the islands, while the experience of a charter boat that comes complete with crew is less adventurous but more luxurious. Visitors also will find many scheduled group tours that are easy to join and spare the duty of having to self charter a boat. These are generally only day-long trips but provide a great opportunity for swimming, snorkeling in the colorful reefs, and deep-sea fishing. If you've got the sea legs, the Virgin Islands has the excursions. Vacationers should have no problem finding a trip that fits their schedule and budget when surrounded by so many seafaring adventures.
